Claim: Video of Prime Minister Modi being criticised in Nepal Parliament.

Fact: The video actually shows Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur constituency Congress MLA Jagat Singh Negi’s speech in the state assembly. Few news agencies reported the same video. Even HP’s Congress unit shared the same video on its Facebook page. This video has nothing to do with Nepal.  Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

Reverse image search of the screenshots of the video led us to a lengthier version of the video in a post on YouTube video titled ‘Jagat Singh Negi lambasted the BJP in the House’. The video was uploaded on YouTube on 17 March 2021.

Taking a cue from the YouTube video, Google search with relevant keywords led to a Facebook post by Indian National Congress- Himachal Pradesh which shared the same video. As per this post, the person speaking in the video is Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur congress MLA Jagat Singh Negi.

The same video was also shared by Jagat Singh Negi on his Facebook page on 18 March 2021. News reports of the same video can be seen here. Even this report acknowledges the speaker as congress MLA Jagat Singh Negi and the video is of his speech in the Himachal Pradesh legislature.

To sum it up, video of Himachal Pradesh Congress MLA’s speech in state assembly is passed off as Nepal MP criticising Modi.
