A photo is being shared on social media claiming that a Bus carrying the BSF Jawans overturned at Darbhanga on their way to Bihar election duty. In the post, it claims that Nine BSF Jawans died in this accident. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Nine BSF jawans died in a bus accident at Darbhanga, Bihar.

Fact: A bus carrying BSF Jawans on election duty indeed overturned at Darbhanga in Bihar. But, no BSF jawan died in this accident. Ten persons, including nine BSF jawans, got injured in this accident. So, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On reverse image search of the photo shared in the post, a similar photo is found in an article published by Lokaarpan news website on ‘05 November 2020’. In the article, it is reported that a bus carrying BSF Jawans to Bihar election duty overturned at the Darbhanga city of Muzaffarpur district. It is reported that many Jawans were injured in this accident.

In Dainik Bhaskar’s article about this accident, it is reported that ten persons, including nine BSF Jawans and a driver, got injured in this accident.  It is mentioned in the article that the lack of location knowledge is the prime reason for this accident. Sharing the same photo, ‘Punjab Kesari’ news website also published an article about this incident.

To sum it up, no BSF Jawan died in the bus accident at Darbhanga city in Bihar.
