A video is being widely shared on social media claiming it is the visuals of a mob thrashing a man for making ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans during the Gadar 2 film screening in a theatre. Let’s verify the claim made in the post. 

Claim: Video of a man being thrashed for making ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans during the screening of Gadar 2 film.

Fact: The video shows a fight that escalated between intoxicated individuals during the screening of the Gadar 2 film at Prasad Cinema in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. While watching the movie Gadar 2, a spectator captured screenshots of a particular scene on his mobile phone. The light emitted by the mobile phone caused disturbance to other viewers, which led to an argument between two individuals, that eventually escalated into a fight in the theatre. The clash did not occur due to the chanting of “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

When we searched for the video using relevant keywords, a video showing similar visuals was found published by ‘Times Now’. This reported it as visuals of a physical altercation between spectators during the screening of the Gadar 2 film at the Prasads theatre in the Kotwali area in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. In the article, Times Now reported that Bareilly police had refuted the claims of “Pakistan Zindabad” being the cause of the fight and confirmed that the brawl erupted due to intoxication.

Reporting the details of this clash that took place during the screening of the Gadar 2 film, several news agencies published articles. They can be seen here, here, and here. All these news agencies reported that the altercation escalated between two intoxicated individuals during the Gadar 2 screening at the Prasads Theatre in Kotwali.

For further sources, we contacted Kotwali SHO Dharmendra Kumar. Speaking about the incident, Dharmendra Kumar said, “A spectator in the theatre took screenshots of a scene while watching the movie in the Prasads theatre. The light emitted from the mobile phone created a disturbance to other viewers which led to an argument, which eventually escalated into a fight. The viral social media claims of “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans being the cause of the fight is false.

To sum it up, the fight during the Gadar 2 screening in Bareilly was not instigated by the chants of “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans.
