Sourav Ganguly did not tweet saying ‘Congressmen are always known to follow double standards’

A Facebook post with the screenshot of a tweet by Twitter handle ‘@SirSGanguly’ that has the username ‘Sourav Ganguly’ and profile picture of ex- Indian cricketer from West Bengal and now BCCI Chairman Sourav Ganguly is making rounds on social media claiming that the tweet is from the official Twitter account of Sourav Ganguly. The message in it is in Hindi and its English translation is- ‘When a Bihar man raped (a girl), all the Biharis were made to go out of Gujarat, but thousands of Bangladeshi and Rohingya terrorists, rapists, murderers who engaged themselves in smuggling, rioting, looting and other crimes were made the sons-in-law here (West Bengal). Congressmen are always known to follow double standards’. Let’s analyze the authenticity of that claim.

In the comments section, it can be seen that the users are commending Sourav Ganguly for that message in the tweet.

Claim: Sourav Ganguly tweeted saying ‘Congressmen are always known to follow double standards’.

Fact: The official Twitter handle of Sourav Ganguly is ‘@SGanguly99’, not ‘@SirSGanguly’. The Twitter handle ‘@SirSGanguly’ wasn’t found to exist. So, the tweet is not from the official account of Ex- Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly. Hence, the claim is FALSE.

The tweet in the screenshot had the Twitter handle ‘@SirSGanguly’. So when searched for that account on Twitter, a message ‘This account doesn’t exist’ was displayed.

The official Twitter handle of Sourav Ganguly is ‘@SGanguly99’. So, the tweet was definitely not made by him.

To conclude, Sourav Ganguly did not tweet saying ‘Congressmen are always known to follow double standards’.
