A video is being shared on social media claiming it as the recent visuals of BJP workers vandalising the Meerut rally venue protesting the denial of daily wage for attending the event. In the wake of the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Elections, on 02 January 2022, PM Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting held in Meerut.  Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Recent visuals of BJP workers vandalising Meerut rally venue in Uttar Pradesh.

Fact: The video shared in the post shows an old incident of protesting farmers vandalizing the venue of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat in Karnal, Haryana. This incident took place in January 2021. This video has nothing to do with the recent Meerut rally in Uttar Pradesh. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On reverse image search of the screenshots in the video, a video with similar visuals was found published on the ‘TV9 Bharatvarsh’ YouTube channel on 10 January 2021. This video reported it as the visuals of protesting farmers vandalising the venue of Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar’s ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ event in Karnal, Haryana.

Sharing a video with similar visuals, the ‘India Today’ published an article on 10 January 2021. According to the ‘India Today’ article, on 10 January 2021, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was slated to hold the ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ programme at Kaimla village in Haryana. Manohar Lal Khattar organized this event to address farmers about the benefits of the Centre’s three farm laws. Thousands of protesting farmers gathered at Kaimla village and vandalised the venue. Despite the Haryana Police officials’ efforts to stop protestors using water cannons and tear gas shells, protestors entered Kaimla village and ransacked the venue of the ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ event.

Following the protestors’ attack on the ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ venue in Kaimla, Manohar Lal Khattar called off the event. Reporting the complete details of the incident, several news websites published articles in January 2021. They can be seen here and here. From all these pieces of evidence, it can be concluded that the video shared in the post shows an old incident of farmers vandalising the venue of Manohar Lal Khattar’s ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ event in Haryana.

To sum it up, an old video of protesting farmers vandalising the venue of Manohar Lal Khattar’s ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ event in Haryana falsely linked to the recent Meerut rally in UP.
