Fact: The video shows an incident from Colombia where a man named Jesús Salvador Tovar stabbed his ex- partner Sandra Milena Altamar Ojeda with a sharp object during a conciliation hearing at the La Paz District Court in the city of Barranquilla, Colombia, on 16 November 2022. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.
We conducted a reverse image search on the viral visuals and came across several media reports (here, here, and here) published by Colombian news websites, all featuring the same visuals.
According to these reports, a man named Jesús Salvador Tovar was apprehended for stabbing his former partner, Sandra Milena Altamar Ojeda, with a sharp object during a conciliation hearing at the La Paz District Court in the city of Barranquilla, Colombia, on 16 November 2022. The woman sustained serious injuries and was promptly transported to a hospital for treatment. Following the incident, the man admitted to the attack during police interrogation, leading the judge to order his incarceration.
Furthermore, our investigation revealed that the screenshot of Jagran news headline overlaid on viral video pertains to a separate murder incident in Jabalpur that occurred last year. The perpetrator, in that case, was identified as Hemant Rajendra Bhadane, and the victim was named Shilpa. FACTLY had already debunked this video when it previously went viral, refuting claims of it being related to alleged love jihad.
Moreover, it has been determined that the audio in the viral video has been tampered with and replaced with Hindi audio, creating a false impression that the incident took place in India. Additionally, upon closer inspection, the text on the police officers’ uniforms reads ‘ POLICÍA,’ which is the Spanish word for ‘POLICE.’ (Spanish being the most widely spoken language in Colombia)
