A video is being shared on social media claiming it shows visuals of an Australian singer singing ‘Aye katibe taqdeer’ song that was originally sung by late Indian singer KL Saigal. The post claims that the Australian musician had brought back the life of KL Saigal through his beautiful voice. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video of an Australian singer singing ‘Aye katibe taqdeer’ song.

Fact: The video shows the visuals from an old concert by Dr Nashenas, the famous singer and musician of Afghanistan, at Monash University in Australia. The video does not show an Australian singer singing KL Saigal’s ‘Aye katibe taqdeer’ song. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

The opening titles of the video show the text, “Dr Nashenas Monash University Australia”. On reverse image search of the screenshots of the video and by searching with relevant keywords on the internet, a video with similar visuals was found published by a YouTube channel, with the description, “Dr Nashenas Best Performance in Australia (Must Watch) – Aye katibe taqdeer”.

Dr. Nashenas is a famous singer and musician from Afghanistan. The biography of Dr. Nashenas can be seen here. Another video from the same concert was published on the official YouTube channel of Nashenas.

The Indian Embassy in Afghanistan shared the same video on its official Facebook handle in 2013. The YouTube video shared by the Indian Embassy in Afghanistan was published in 2010 with the description, “Aye katibe taqdeer mujhe itna batade’ by Nashenas in Monash University”.
