Video of a Crocodile spotted in waterlogged streets is from Vadodara, not Hyderabad

A post with the video of a crocodile being rescued from a waterlogged street is being widely shared on social media with the claim that the animal was spotted in Hyderabad during the ongoing rains. Through this article let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video of Crocodile which was spotted in Hyderabad during the current heavy rains.

Fact: The video in the post is actually of a Crocodile which was found in the residential areas of Vadodara during the floods back in 2019. The video has nothing to do with Hyderabad. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

Reverse image search of the screenshots of the video led us to a 2019 news video which carried similar visuals like in the video of the post. According to this news video, the crocodile was spotted in Gujarat’s Vadodara which came into the residential areas during the floods. Another news video of the incident also reported that the incident took place in Vadodara. With this, we can conclude that the incident is not from Hyderabad.

Various news portals also reported the same incident. According to these articles, the 10-foot long crocodile was rescued by the NDRF team. Other news articles about this incident can be read here and here.
