A video has been widely shared on social media, purporting to show a real-life incident of a woman and her mother-in-law boarding a crowded bus in Rajasthan. The video shows the mother-in-law finding a seat, while the daughter-in-law takes the driver’s seat when the driver is not present. When the driver returns and asks her to vacate the seat, the daughter-in-law reportedly argues with him and refuses to move, telling him to sit somewhere else and drive from ther. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Visuals of real-life incident of a woman sitting in the driver’s seat of a crowded bus in Rajasthan, refusing to move, and arguing with the driver to sit somewhere else and drive the bus.

Fact: The video is actually a scene from a Rajasthani comedy short film starring actress Hema Prajapat and does not depict any real-life incident. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

An internet search with relevant keywords led us to the full video uploaded on YouTube in 2020 which identifies itself as a Rajasthani Comedy short film. The title and description also include the name of the lead actress, Hema Prajapat.

Taking a cue from this, we conducted additional research and found that Hema Prajapat has acted in several other short films that involve mother-in-law and daughter-in-law comedy scenarios, including some that feature the other actress (Kamla Solanki) seen in the viral video. A few of them can be seen here, here and here.

To sum it up, the video being shared as a real-life incident of a woman sitting in the driver’s seat and arguing with him is actually a scene from a Rajasthani comedy short film.
