A video is being shared widely on social media with a claim that ‘Modi Zindabad’ slogans were raised in the Pakistan Parliament after the success of India and the troubles of Pakistan in the evacuation of their respective citizens from Ukraine. Let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video of ‘Modi zindabad’ slogans in the Pakistan Parliament praising India’s evacuation efforts in Ukraine.

Fact: The video is an old one. It was taken in the National Assembly (Pakistan) on 26 October 2020. So, it is not related to any latest evacuation efforts in Ukraine. Also, the people in the video were shouting ‘voting…voting…”, not ‘Modi zindabad’. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

When we searched for the posted video on the internet, the extended version of the video was found to be uploaded on YouTube, in October 2020, with the title – “Shah Mehmood Qureshi Hard-Hitting Speech On France Islamophobia”. The posted video clip can be seen at 35 seconds in the YouTube video. So, an old video is being falsely linked to the current evacuation efforts of the Indian and Pakistan governments in Ukraine.

Also, the people in the video were shouting ‘voting…voting…”, not ‘Modi zindabad’. In the ‘Dawn’ article, it can be read – “With opposition members chanting “voting! voting!” for the resolution presented by Asif, a furious Qureshi accused the opposition of “doing politics” on the sensitive matter…...Pointing to Asif, the minister said it appeared to him that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “spirit has been transferred into him”.” In the extended video, the Speaker can be seen telling the shouting members – “voting…sab kuch hoga…sabar rakhe aap” (translation – “voting…everything will take place…be patient”). For more information regarding the posted video, one can see the National Assembly’s (26 October 2020) debate document.

To sum it up, ‘Modi zindabad’ slogans were not raised in the Pakistan Parliament praising India’s evacuation efforts in Ukraine.
