An image with a photo of AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi and an accompanying message is being shared widely on Facebook. The message is in Hindi and its English translation is- “Owaisi has written a letter to the UN saying Hindustan is not safe for Muslims. Owaisi got a reply from the UN: ‘then go wherever is safe’”. Let’s try to analyze the claim.
Claim: Owaisi wrote a letter to the UnitedNations saying ‘Hindustan is not safe for Muslims’
Fact: Owasisi hasn’t written any such letter to the United Nations(UN) saying Hindustan isn’t safe for Muslims. Information from no credible source was found which confirms that Owaisi has written such a letter. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.
When searched on Google with keywords ‘Owaisi letter to the UN saying Hindustan is not safe for Muslims’, there were no news in the search results confirming such a letter being written by Owaisi.
If Owaisi had really written such a letter, it would have been reported by all the major newspapers and channels in India. But no news agency has reported anything about Owaisi writing a letter to the UN saying Hindustan isn’t safe for Muslims. So, the claim is false.
Earlier, when the same message went viral in January 2019, ‘Alt News’ contacted Owaisi and he has clarified that he hasn’t written any such letter to the UN.
To conclude, Asaduddin Owaisi hasn’t written a letter to the United Nations saying ‘Hindustan is not safe for Muslims’.
