A video is being shared on social media claiming it as the visuals of a group of people from Uttar Pradesh chanting RLD Chief Jayant Chaudhary slogans during Amit Shah’s ‘Jan Vishwas Yatra’ campaign in Kairana. In the wake of the upcoming 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, this video is being shared widely on social media. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video of people chanting Jayant Chaudhary slogans during Amit Shah’s recent ‘Jan Vishwas Yatra’ campaign in Kairana.

Fact: The video shared in the post is a doctored one. The original video shows people chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, ‘Jai Sree Ram’ and ‘Modi, Modi’ slogans, not the name of RLD Chief Jayant Chaudhary. This video was created by altering the audio of the original video file that was shot during Amit Shah’s recent door-to-door election campaign in Kairana. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On reverse image search of the screenshots in the video, a video with similar visuals was found published by the ‘ABC News 24×7’ news channel on 25 January 2021. The original video shows people chanting ‘Modi, Modi’ and ‘Jai Sri Ram’ slogans. A few journalists have also tweeted this original video on social media. They can be seen here and here. In no instance of the video, we hear people chanting Jayant Chaudhary slogans.

When we searched for more reliable sources using these keywords, we found a video published by the ‘Hindustan Live’ news channel on 22 January 2022. This video shows only a few seconds of the viral video. In the few seconds of the video, we can hear people chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Modi, Modi’ slogans.

The BJP’s official YouTube channel published a video of Amit Shah’s door-to-door campaign in Kairana. Though we could not find the exact visuals as in the viral video, we could hear people chanting ‘Jai Sri Ram’, ‘Modi-Yogi Zindabad’, ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ slogans during Amit Shah’s campaign in Kairana. Also, in an article published by the ‘Jagran’ news website, it is reported that slogans of ‘Jai Sri Ram’ and ‘Modi-Yogi Zindabad’ were raised during Amit Shah’s door-to-door campaign in Kairana. When the video shared in the post went viral on social media, ‘Jagran’ published a fact-check article clarifying it as an edited video. From all these pieces of evidence, it can be understood that the video shared in the post is a doctored video created by altering the audio of the original video.
