A major controversy erupted during an episode of the entertainment show India’s Got Latent, hosted by comedian Samay Raina. The episode featured Ranveer Allahbadia, a well-known Indian podcaster and the 2024 winner of the Disruptor of the Year award. He is also the owner of the YouTube channel BeerBiceps. During the show, Allahbadia allegedly made vulgar remarks and asked inappropriate questions to a contestant, resulting in multiple FIRs being filed against him, Samay Raina, and others associated with the show (here, here and here). Amid the controversy, a video (here, here and here) of Ranveer Allahbadia went viral, in which he is seen crying and saying, “I feel bad because all my work has shut down. I feel guilty. My team got exposed because of me.” The video is being widely shared with claims that he is remorseful because his work has come to a halt rather than feeling guilty about his alleged remarks on the show. Let’s fact-check the claim.

Claim: The viral video shows Ranveer Allahbadia crying, admitting guilt, and saying his work has shut down due to his remarks on India’s Got Latent.
Fact: The video is actually from an old vlog of him posted on 07 April 2021, titled “This Is NOT Clickbait – My Covid-19 Experience | Vlog 24.” In the video, Ranveer talks about testing positive for COVID-19. The clip has no connection to the recent ‘India’s Got Latent’ controversy, even though he apologised through his X handle. Hence, the claim is MISLEADING.
To verify the truth behind this video, we searched Ranveer Allahbadia’s recent posts on his social media handles but couldn’t find anything matching the viral clip. Our investigation then led us to a video on his YouTube channel, uploaded on 7 April 2021, titled “This Is NOT Clickbait – My Covid-19 Experience | Vlog 24.” At the 00:28 timestamp of this video, Ranveer can be seen saying, “I tested COVID positive today,” followed by the exact statements heard in the viral clip. Additionally, the attire and background in both videos match, confirming that the viral clip is from 2021, not 2024.
Additionally, after the controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent show and the FIRs filed, the show was removed from official channels. Ranveer Allahbadia later released a video apologising for the remarks made during the show, which he posted on his social media platforms on 10 February 2025 (here, here and here). However, the viral video has no connection to this incident.
To sum up, a 2021 video of Ranveer Allahbadia crying is being shared after his recent controversial statement on the show India’s Got Latent.
