A purported News 24 graphic (here, here, and here) is being shared widely with the claim that Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh has recently stated that former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal might slip into a coma in the wake of the 2025 Delhi Assembly Election results. We. fact-check will fact-check the claim.
Claim: A News 24 graphic which quotes AAP leader Sanjay Singh saying Arvind Kejriwal might slip into a coma in the wake of the 2025 Delhi Assembly Election results.
Fact: The graphic being shared is an old one, originally posted by News 24 on 15 July 2024. There are no recent reports of Sanjay Singh making such a statement, nor any credible updates suggesting that Arvind Kejriwal is facing a health issue. Hence, the claim made in the post is Misleading.
To verify the claim, we performed a keyword search and found no recent news reports supporting it. We also went through Sanjay Singh’s social media profiles (here, here, and here) and did not find any such comments.
Next, we performed an X advanced search looking for the graphic on News 24’s ‘X’ account and found the original post. The same graphic being circulated now was actually posted by News 24 on 15 July 2024.
Further, an additional search for related news reports revealed that this statement was made by Sanjay Singh when Arvind Kejriwal was in Tihar Jail. At the time, AAP had raised concerns about his health but the Tihar Jail authorities stated that AAP leaders were making baseless claims and that his “blood pressure and sugar levels were being regularly monitored while in jail.”
In response, Sanjay Singh disagreed (here and here) and said, “A team of AIIMS doctors has been examining Arvind Kejriwal’s health, and they have found out that Kejriwal is losing weight fast and is suffering from hypoglycemia. His blood sugar level dropped below 50 mg/dL five times, which could have caused him to slip into a coma or even resulted in his death.” This is the context in which he mentioned the possibility of Kejriwal slipping into a coma.
To sum up, Sanjay Singh’s old July 2024 statement that ‘Kejriwal may slip into a coma’ is shared as recent.
