Viral video shows actress Urfi Javed at a Mumbai fashion show, not Smriti Irani in the parliament

In light of Union Minister Smriti Irani’s allegations against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding a flying kiss incident in the Indian Parliament, a video of a woman is being widely shared on social media claiming that it shows Smriti Irani wearing attire deemed indecent for the Indian Parliament. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Visuals of Union Minister Smriti dressed in inappropriate attire at the Indian Parliament.

Fact: The woman in the viral video is not Smriti Irani. Video features actress Urfi Javed during a Fashion event in Mumbai in May 2023. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

Conducting a Reverse Image Search on the viral video yielded multiple older videos dated May 2023. These videos explicitly identified the individual in the footage as actress Urfi Javed, rather than Smriti Irani.

Subsequently, further research unveiled the complete video, which captures Urfi Javed dressed in the same attire as seen in the viral video at the Beti Fashion Fundraiser show held in Mumbai in May 2023. Corroborative media reports concerning this event can be read here and here.

To sum it up, the viral video features actress Urfi Javed participating in a Mumbai fashion show, and not Smriti Irani in Indian Parliament.
