A video going viral on social media (here, here, and here) shows one train running over another, followed by a rescue operation. The post claims the incident occurred near Bikaner Lalgarh railway station, where rescue work is ongoing. Let’s verify the truth behind the video in this article.

Claim: Video shows rescue work following the collision of two trains near Bikaner Lalgarh railway station.

Fact: The video shows a mock drill, not a real accident. On 14 November 2024, a joint disaster management exercise was conducted at Lalgarh station yard, Bikaner division, to test rescue preparedness. The drill simulated a collision during shunting, with one coach climbing over another, and involved the Railways, NDRF, SDRF, and other agencies. The exercise, lasting 1.5 to 2 hours, assessed the response times of health, administration, and rescue teams. A tweet from North Western Railways confirmed that the accident was part of mock drill. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

Upon close analysis of the viral video, it was found that at the 3.25-minute timestamp, the person in the video mentions that it is a mock drill.

To gather more information, we conducted a Google search, which led us to reports (here, here, and here). According to these reports, on 14 November 2024, a mock drill was conducted in the Lalgarh station yard of the Bikaner division to test rescue preparedness during a rail accident. The drill simulated a collision during shunting, with one coach climbing over another. The exercise assessed the response times of health, administration, NDRF, SDRF, and civil rescue teams and lasted for about 1.5 to 2 hours.

Additionally, We also found a tweet from North Western Railways stating that a joint disaster management exercise was conducted by the Railways, NDRF, SDRF, and other agencies at the Lalgarh station yard of the Bikaner division on 14 November 2024, confirming that the incident was not real.
