Video of Priyanka Gandhi raising slogans against Central Government is being shared with a false audio


Amid recent protests by Congress party leaders against the Central Government over several issues, a video of Indian National Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi is being widely shared on social media. In this video, Priyanka Gandhi, can be seen sitting on the road and singing some song, while being surrendered by police. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video of Priyanka Gandhi sitting on the road and singing a song during a protest against the central government.

Fact:  The original video was uploaded on the official Twitter account of Indian Youth Congress on 05 August 2022. In this video, Priyanka Gandhi can be seen shouting the slogan, “जब जब मोदी डरता है पुलिस को आगे करता है”. This Video was recorded during her protest in Delhi against central Government over multiple issues. The audio in the video is replaced with an unrelated song. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

We searched the internet with the related keywords and found a news article related to the incident. According to the article, several Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, were detained by the Delhi police on Friday as they led protests against the central government on multiple issues, including price rise and unemployment.

Taking the cue from this, we searched the web with relevant keywords and found a video on the official twitter account of Indian Youth Congress. The description says “जब जब मोदी डरता है पुलिस को आगे करता है” (English translation: Whenever Modi is afraid, he puts the police forward). The tweet can be found here.

In this video, one can hear Priyanka Gandhi and her supporters shouting, “जब जब मोदी डरता है पुलिस को आगे करता है”.’V6 News Telugu’ also uploaded a video on its official YouTube video about the same incident but from a different angle. This video also shows Priyanka Gandhi and her supporters shouting the same slogan.

Upon further research, we found that the song used in the viral video was extracted from this video which is uploaded on YouTube on 09 January 2019.

To sum it up, the visuals of Priyanka Gandhi protesting are being shared with a false audio.
