A video of people stuck in traffic and honking is going viral on social media (here, here, and here). It is being shared with the claim that the chaos was caused by a chief minister’s convoy. Some users claimed it was Delhi CM Rekha Gupta’s convoy, while others said it was Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav’s convoy in Bhopal (here). Let’s verify the claim made in the post in this article.

Claim: The video shows people stuck in traffic, honking at the convoy of Delhi CM Rekha Gupta in protest of VIP culture.

Fact: The video is from Hyderabad, not Delhi or Madhya Pradesh. It shows people honking at Telangana CM Revanth Reddy’s convoy near GVK One Mall in Banjara Hills after traffic police stopped vehicles to let his convoy pass. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to several social media posts by a news outlet featuring the same video (here, here, and here). According to these posts, the video is from Hyderabad and shows people honking at the convoy of Telangana CM Revanth Reddy. Traffic police had reportedly stopped regular vehicles to allow CM Reddy’s convoy to pass through Banjara Hills. However, after being held up for some time, people grew restless and began honking in protest.

We identified the location in the viral video as a road near GVK One Mall in Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills. The comparison can be seen below.

However, we could not independently verify when this video was filmed. Based on the available evidence, it is confirmed that the video is from Telangana, not from Delhi or Madhya Pradesh.

To sum up, a video of people stuck in traffic honking at the convoy of Telangana CM Revanth Reddy in protest of VIP culture is shared as if it shows the convoys of Delhi or Madhya Pradesh CMs.
