A collage of images is being shared on social media claiming that around 500 fake babas and goons from India entered Nepal and are  Kidnapping children in the country. This post claims that 30 of these gangs were arrested by Nawalparasi police while they were trying to transport a child through the Nawalparasi border. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: A collage of images showing the kidnapping gangs that entered Nepal from India.

Fact: The photos shared in the post show the screenshots of different scripted dramas published by a few entertainment YouTube channels. The videos were created for entertainment and awareness purposes. The photos do not show the pictures of real kidnappers and it is nowhere reported that kidnapping gangs from India have recently entered Nepal. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On reverse image search of the photo shared in the post, a similar visual was found in a video published by a YouTube channel named Praveen Kumar SM on 15 December 2018. Crediting the direction of the video to himself, Praveen Kumar described it as his new video portraying the kidnap of a schoolboy.

A disclaimer mentioned below the video states, “Please don’t go out of your way to or hate on anyone I talk about in my videos, this channel is to entertain people and I usually focus on joking about what the people are doing not the individual themselves, please don’t go spreading hate it’s all for laughs”. So, it can be confirmed that the photo shared in the post shows a screenshot from a scripted drama.

On reverse image search of the photo shared in the post, a similar visual was found as the thumbnail image of a scripted comedy video published by the ‘Comedy Plus with Neetuarya’ YouTube channel.

The ‘Comedy Plus with Neetuarya’ is an entertainment channel that publishes scripted comedy dramas in Hindi and Bhojpuri. This YouTube channel published the video describing it as visuals of how kidney organ thieves kidnap children.

This YouTube channel published a few other scripted child kidnapping videos where we could see the same persons acting in the same roles as kidnappers. They can be seen here and here. At the ending of these videos, we could see actors acknowledging that the videos are made for educational and awareness purposes.

In April 2022, a woman filed an FIR with Delhi Police, accusing her ex-husband and her mother-in-law of kidnapping her daughter and taking her to Nepal. The woman’s husband and her mother-in-law were US citizens. Otherwise, we could not find any news reports confirming the child kidnapping in Nepal by Indian gangs.

To sum it up, screenshots from scripted kidnapping videos are shared as the pictures of kidnapping gangs that entered to Nepal from India.
