Claim: IIT Kanpur Professor H C Verma has been donating one crore rupees every year to the PM’s Relief Fund and charity.

Fact: This message has been in circulation on social media at least since 2018.  Professor H C Verma through a Facebook post in 2018 had clarified that this news about him donating one crore rupees to the PM’s Relief Fund is false. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On searching for the details of the claim made in the post, it is found out that the same message has been in circulation on social media at least since 2018. IIT Kanpur professor H C Verma had issued a clarification regarding this message circulating on social media. In his Facebook post on 13 April 2018, H C Verma said, “Dear Friends, I came to know about a Twitter post telling that I earn 1 crore of royalty and donate the whole money to the PM Relief fund. I wish I could do that. I wish to categorically deny the information. A scooter photo is also shown in the post. I never had a scooter of this colour and make. I am just one of you, a common man and a physics learner”.
