A video is circulating on social media showing a trainer attempting to snatch a gun from a sleeping soldier, while the soldier resists. The video claims to depict the alertness of a sleeping soldier undergoing training for the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) of India. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video displaying the alertness of a Central Reserve police Force (CRPF) soldier in India.

Fact: This video is from Thailand. It shows the trainer testing the alertness of a sleeping Thai soldier. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

Upon conducting a reverse image search of the viral video, we were able to locate the original and full-length video, which was published by a TikTok account based in Thailand in May 2022. The accompanying description identifies the individuals in the video as Thai soldiers (Black Army).

Moreover, in the video, the trainer’s jersey prominently displays Thailand’s flag along with the text ‘New Recruit Training Unit’.

Furthermore, the full video reveals that the trainer does, in fact, manage to snatch the gun from another sleeping soldier/trainee at a later point. It’s important to note that military training in different countries often involves various tests and exercises aimed at assessing soldiers’ ability to maintain situational awareness even while sleeping or resting. These tests are designed to evaluate their readiness and responsiveness in unpredictable situations.

To sum it up, the viral video of a trainer testing the alertness of a sleeping soldier is from Thailand and not from India.
