A video (here, here and here ) circulating on social media features a person speaking to the media in the presence of police, stating, “he was not a good man,” about Baba Siddique. Users allege that he is a shooter linked to the Bishnoi gang and was arrested in connection with the late Baba Siddique’s case. Let’s investigate the truth behind this claim.
Claim: A man speaking to the media in a viral video is one of the accused in the Baba Siddique murder case.
Fact: The person in the video, Yogesh Kumar, is associated with the Bishnoi gang and was arrested in connection with the murder of a gym owner in Delhi. He is not linked to the Baba Siddique murder case, in which a total of ten suspects have been arrested, and his name is not among them. This indicates that the video has no relevance to the Baba Siddique case, hence the claim is MISLEADING.
To verify the video’s authenticity, we conducted a reverse image search on Google, tracing it back to a post shared by News24 on their X handle on 18 October 2024. The post featured the caption, “Bishnoi gang shooter arrested by police said ‘Baba Siddique was not a good man,'” in Hindi. Following this, we performed keyword searches and found reports from The Hindu and The Indian express, identifying the individual in the video as Yogesh alias Raju, associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi-Hashim Baba gang and arrested in connection with the murder of Nadir Shah, a gym owner in Delhi.
In further research, we found that the Special Cell of the Delhi Police was actively searching for Yogesh Kumar, a suspect in the Nadir Shah murder case associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. On 17 October 2024, acting on intelligence regarding his location in Mathura, police conducted a joint operation. During the encounter, Kumar attempted to escape on a motorcycle, was shot in the leg, and was subsequently arrested. Authorities seized a pistol, seven live cartridges, and a stolen motorcycle from him, leading to his hospitalisation.
Recent reports indicate that the investigation into the Baba Siddique murder case has led to multiple arrests. On 18 October 2024, police detained five suspects: Nitin Sapre, Ramful Chand Kanaujia, Sambhaji Kishore Pardhi, Pradeep Dattu Thombre, and Chetan Pardhi for allegedly providing weapons and support to the main suspects. Earlier arrests included shooters Gurmel Baljit Singh and Dharamraj Rajesh Kashyap, while a third, Shiv Kumar, remains at large. Praveen Lonkar was also taken into custody after his brother claimed responsibility for the murder on behalf of Lawrence Bishnoi. Additionally, Bhagwat Singh Omsingh was arrested as the tenth and most recent suspect on 20 October.
To date, a total of ten suspects have been arrested in connection with the Baba Siddique murder case. Notably, Yogesh Kumar, who appears in a viral video, is not among those detained. His remarks about Baba Siddique while talking to the media are merely responses to questions posed by reporters.
To sum up, Yogesh Kumar, a suspect in the Bishnoi gang linked to the shooting of a Delhi gym owner, has been incorrectly shared in connection with the Baba Siddique murder case.
