A social media post accompanying a movie clip is being widely circulated with a claim that the clip is from the recent Kashmir Files movie, which is based on the exodus of the Kashmiri pandits in 1990s. Let’s fact-check the veracity of the clip shared in the post.

Claim: Video clip from the ‘The Kashmir Files’ movie.

Fact: The viral clip is not from the Kashmir Files movie but from a 2019 movie ‘Mudda 370 J&K’, which is also based on Kashmir. The film is made in the backdrop of Kashmir’s social environment in the 80s & 90s. The viral clip is old and has nothing to do with the recent popular ‘The Kashmir Files’ movie. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

These viral visuals are excerpts from a 2019 movie titled ‘Mudda 370 J&K’ , which is also based on Kashmir. Reverse image search of the screenshots of the viral video led us to the YouTube video which carried similar visuals.

The title of the video reads ‘Mudda Article-370, 35A J&K / Full Hindi Movie / Latest Movie 2020’. And the description of  the video claims that the movie is based on the communal tensions in Kashmir and is directed by Rakesh Sawant.

Google search with relevant keywords yielded multiple news articles that reported the movie release. As per the Times of India article, the movie is released on 13 December 2019, and is based on the social setup of Kashmir in late 80’s and early 90’s. The movie touches upon the aspects of article 370 and the plight of the Kashmiri pundits.

Thus, from the above mentioned information it is evident that  the viral video is an expert of a 2019 movie and has nothing to do with the recent ‘Kashmir Files’ movie.

To sum it up, video clip of an old movie is passed off as from the recent ‘The Kashmir Files’ movie.
