A video (here, here, and here) of the popular fast food chain KFC’s chicken bones and wings moving in a creepy manner has been making rounds on social media lately. Sharing this video on Facebook, a user wrote, ‘Big Breaking,’ implying it was recently broken news. We fact-check this claim through this article.

Claim: The video shows KFC’s fried chicken pieces moving by themselves.
Fact: This video was created by a concept artist and illustrator, Maxim Verehin. He posts AI-generated artwork and animated videos along with his other artworks and illustrations on Instagram and Twitter. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.
To check the veracity of the viral claim, we performed a keyword search on the internet to see if any media organisation had reported on such an event. This yielded no credible results, conflicting the claim that this was a big breaking news story.
Further, we performed a reverse image search on a few of the viral video’s keyframes, leading us to an article published by an entertainment website ‘Dexerto’ titled ‘TikTok creeped out by viral video of moving fried chicken.’ This article credited an artist named Maxim Verehin for creating this video.

Taking this as a hint, we looked for his social media profiles online and learned that he uploaded this video on his Instagram and ‘X’ accounts in November 2021.
After going through Maxim’s profiles, we learned he creates concept art, AI art, animated gaming cutscenes, etc. Nowhere in the posts did he mention that these are real. According to his LinkedIn bio, he is a concept artist in the video game industry.

Additionally, we reached out to Maxim on social media for more information on the video. This article will be updated once he responds to us.
To sum up, a video made by a video game concept artist is being shared as a real video of moving KFC fried chicken. `
