A viral video on social media claims that Australian cricketer  David Warner removed Coca-Cola bottles from a table during a press conference like how soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo did a few years ago. It is being claimed that Coca-Cola is an Israeli brand. The Palestinian flag in the post implies David Warner’s actions are related to his support of Palestine in the context of the ongoing Palestine-Israel conflict. Let’s fact-check this claim through this article.

Claim: David Warner removed Israeli Coca-Cola bottles from a table during a press conference in support of Palestine.

Fact: This is an old video from 2021 which happened in a press conference held during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.  In the original video, David Warner kept the Coca-Cola bottles back and said nothing about Palestinen when he did this. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

To learn more about the viral video, we conducted a basic keyword search online. This search led us to the full video clip from 2021 showing David Warner removing the Coca-Cola bottles from a table during a press conference. We also found a few news reports (here, here, and here) on this along with the video.

Reportedly, in a press conference held during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, David Warner removed two Coca-Cola bottles displayed on the press conference table in front of him and said “Can I remove this?”  “However, he was asked to put them back. To this, Warner said, “If it is good for Cristiano, it’s good enough for me.” Wion reported.

This makes it clear that the viral post spins a false narrative around this incident of him removing Coca-Cola bottles from the press conference table as something he has done in support of Palestine. In reality, he did not even mention anything about Palestine when removing the bottles.

Additionally, through a quick Google search, we found that Coca-Cola is not an Israeli brand. Coca-Cola was produced first by John Stith Pemberton who was a pharmacist in Atlanta, Georgia which is in the United States, not Israel.

To sum up, the viral claim that Australian Cricketer David Warner removed Coca-Cola bottles during a press conference in support of Palestine is False.
