This purported post-mortem report of actress Sridevi is not genuine

A post with an image claiming to be that of actress Sridevi’s post-mortem report is doing rounds on social media. The purported report claims that Sridevi was forcefully fed with cocaine, had three injuries and her death was not natural. Through this article let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: Post-Mortem report of actress Sridevi claiming that she was forcefully drugged, and her death was not natural.

Fact: Dubai Media Office through a tweet confirmed that Sridevi’s death was due to getting drowned in a bathtub following loss of consciousness. Relevant documents published by the news agencies confirm the same. Further, if we take a close look at the purported document, we find many spelling and grammatical mistakes making it clear that the document is not authentic. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

Google search with the keyword ‘Sridevi death UAE’ led us to a tweet by Dubai Media Office which stated that Sridevi’s death was because of getting drowned in a bathtub following loss of consciousness. There is no mention of any injuries in this reported.

Further, our search led us to a news article that published the relevant documents related to her death. These documents also confirm that the cause of death is accidental drowning.

Our search found that the purported document is not shared by any UAE government official sources. Also, if we take a close look at the purported document, we find many spelling and grammatical mistakes making it clear that the document is not authentic. As the logo of the Ministry of Health, UAE is available for download on its official website, a document like the one in the post can be easily created using digital tools.

In the light of the events that unfolded after the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, posts related to Sridevi’s death like the ones in the post have resurfaced and are being widely shared with different misleading claims.

To sum it up, the purported post-mortem report of Sridevi is not genuine.
