A collage of images is being shared on social media claiming it is the pictures of a modern primary school recently built by the Yogi Adityanath government in the Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh. Sharing the pictures, this post says that if the school was from Delhi, it would have been written about in foreign newspapers. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Fact: The pictures do show a government primary school in the Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh. However, the primary school was renovated by its school headmaster Kapil Kumar Malik in 2016, before the Yogi Adityanath government took over in 2017. Kapil Kumar spent 12 Lakhs of his own money for the renovation of this primary school in the Sambhal district. Hence, the claim made in the post is Misleading.
On reverse image search of the images shared in the post, similar photos were found in a tweet published by the present Agra District Magistrate, Prabhu N Singh, on 10 October 2016. Sharing the pictures, Prabhu N Singh tweeted it as one of the primary schools located in the Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh. From the tweet, it is clear that the primary school was renovated before Yogi Adityanath first took oath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh on 19 March 2017.
When we searched for further details using keywords on the internet, we found the complete details of this primary school in an article published by ‘Amar Ujala’ on 19 January 2017. ‘Amar Ujala’ reported that this hi-tech primary school was in the Moradabad division of the Sambhal district. According to the article, this school was renovated by its headmaster Kapil Kumar Malik at his own expense.
According to Kapil, a hi-tech computer lab has been set up inside the school and the children were taught with projectors and 3D pictures. Speaking about the government funding, Kapil Kumar told ‘Amar Ujala’ that the government allocates an annual budget of 5000 rupees for the development of the school and that it is insufficient. Kapil Kumar told ‘Amar Ujala’ that he had spent 12 Lakh rupees of his own money for the renovation of this school. A photo shared in the post shows the premises of a school located in the Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh. The Bareilly District Magistrate’s official Twitter handle tweeted the same photo on 09 July 2020. But the other images shared in the post show a government primary school renovated by its headmaster in the Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh.
To sum it up, this primary school in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district was renovated before Yogi Adityanath took over as CM in 2017.
