This man did not die while doing Namaz; He just fainted and is in good condition

Image of a person prostrating & covered with a cloth is being widely shared on social media claiming that he died while doing Namaz in Medina. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Image shows a person who died while performing Namaz in Medina.

Fact: This incident took place on 18 March 2022 in Medina, Saudi Arabia. An unidentified man fell unconscious while offering the Friday prayers. He was quickly covered with a prayer rug and immediately evacuated by ambulance. He was later declared alive. Hence the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.

We ran a reverse image search and found that the same photo was published in several Gulf media websites. They can be seen here, here and here. As per these reports, this incident took place on 18 March 2022 at Masjid Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque) in Medina, Saudi Arabia. An unidentified man fell unconscious while offering the Friday prayers. Security staff was alerted shortly. He was quickly covered with a prayer rug and immediately evacuated by ambulance. According to the spokesman of Red Crescent Authority in Medina, the man was declared alive by the ambulatory team stationed at Masjid Nabawi and he has been transferred to a local hospital for further treatment.

This photo has gone viral when the official twitter account of Masjid Nabawi shared it by mistakenly considering him as dead. However, they soon apologised and clarified that it was a case of fainting and the man was in good condition.

To sum it up, the image shows a fainted man while performing Namaz in Medina. He was declared alive after treatment and is in good condition.
