This Fountain does not get activated only with ‘Om’ Sound. Rather, it works for all kinds of sounds

A post is widely shared on social media claiming that a small waterfall near a mountain in Thailand jets water higher than the mountain, only when someone says ‘Om’ from a mountain right next to it. Let us fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: A fountain in Thailand only gets activated with the ’Om’ sound.

Fact: The location of this fountain is actually in China, not Thailand. It is a fountain that can be controlled with sound waves. It does not just exclusively work for ‘Om’, rather it works for all kinds of sounds. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On reverse image search of the screenshots from the video in Yandex, a video titled ‘voice-controlled water fountain’ was found. When we searched on the internet with relevant keywords, we found a similar video that was posted on the official Twitter account of ‘Xinhua Culture & Travel’. The Twitter post says, ‘.. at Cangshan Mountain in north China’s Shanxi Province.’ Hence, the location of the mountain is not in Thailand but in China.

The fountain works with the help of sound waves and there is no proof that it works only  when ‘Om’ is vocalised. We found a few other fountains that function using sound waves which can be found here, here and here.

To sum it up, the fountain in the video does not just work for ‘Om’, but it functions using sound waves, which means it works for all sorts of words.
