An image of an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) hoarding is being shared on social media claiming that the AAP National convenor and the Delhi Chief Minister Aravind Kejriwal made an election promise to divide Goans based on caste and religion if his party comes to power in Goa. This hoarding with Kejriwal photo states, “Kejriwal’s 4th Guarantee: Caste/Religion wise division of Goa”. In the wake of the upcoming Goa Assembly elections in 2022, this post is being shared on social media. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

The archived version of the post can be seen here.

Claim: Photo of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) hoarding that promises Goa people a caste/religion based division.

Fact: The photo shared in the post is a morphed image. The original Aam Aadmi Party hoarding promises 5,000 rupees per month allowance for the unemployed youth in the Mining and Tourism sectors in Goa. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On reverse image search of the photo shared in the post, a similar billboard photo was found in an article published by ‘The Goan’ news website on 18 October 2021. The text on the original hoarding reads, “Kejriwal’s 2nd Guarantee Unemployed in mining, tourism? ₹ 5,000/ month till it starts”. This article reported it as one of the hoardings that were placed at the northern entrance to the commercial capital Fatroda. As part of the upcoming Goa Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party had reportedly made an election promise to provide an allowance of 5000 rupees per month to the unemployed youth in the Mining and Tourism sectors due to the COVID-19.

Ahead of the Goa Assembly elections, AAP Chief Aravind Kejriwal had made seven election promises for the youth living in Goa. These election promises include an allowance of ₹ 5,000 to the unemployed youth in the tourism and mining sectors. Reporting Kejriwal’s Goa election promises, several news websites have published articles. They can be seen here and here.

To sum it up, a morphed photo is falsely shared as the picture of Aam Aadmi Party billboard promising the division of Goans based on caste and religion.
