Fact: The boy who attacked the girl is a Hindu named Sushil Yadav. Local Police clarified that there is no Love Jihad angle in this incident. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
To learn more details about the viral video, we searched the internet with relevant keywords, leading to several news reports (here, here, and here) related to this incident. Reportedly, on 19 June 2023, in Seoni’s Lal Chowk, a youth named Sushil Yadav attacked a girl with a knife. Some people at the scene caught hold of him and thrashed him. The girl was later admitted to the local district hospital.
After the incident, police took Sushil into custody and started interrogating him to know why he attacked her. Reporting the incident, Naidunia wrote, ‘Kotwali police station in-charge Mahadev Nagotia told that the investigation is going on taking the accused youth Sushil Yadav in police custody. At the same time, the treatment of the girl is going on in the district hospital. Here his condition is said to be normal.’
Kotwali station in-charge Mahadev told Alt News that ‘there was no ‘Love Jihad’ angle in the case. The accused, Sushil Yadav, and his father, Shiv Kumar Yadav, are Hindus. The victim’s name is Shajroon Hussain, daughter of Shakir Hussain, and she is a Muslim.’
