A post with a video that shows a woman arrested by police is being widely shared on social media with the claim that the woman got arrested for not wearing a mask and the incident took place in Singapore. Through this article let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video of a woman getting arrested for not wearing a mask in Singapore.

Fact: According to news articles, the woman got arrested for pouring soup on a stranger and biting him. The police also confirmed the same. The woman’s arrest has nothing to do with her not wearing a mask. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

Google search with the keywords ‘Singapore woman arrest for not wearing mask’ led us to a news article which carried images similar to the video in the post. According to the news article, the woman got arrested for pouring soup on a stranger, biting him and spitting at him at Novena Square, Singapore. The police also confirmed the same. Few other news articles which reported the same incident can be read here and here. With this, we can conclude that the woman was not arrested for not wearing a mask.

To sum it up, the woman in the video was arrested for pouring soup on a stranger and biting him. The arrest has nothing to do with her not wearing a mask.
