A video of a man speaking about the criminalization of politics is being shared on social media with a claim that the man in the video is Shailja Kant Mishra, 1977 batch IPS Officer, Director General of Police – Uttar Pradesh. Let’s fact-check the claim made in the post

Claim: Video of IPS Officer Shailja Kant Mishra talking about the criminalization of politics.

Fact: The man in the video is not IPS Officer Shailja Kant Mishra. He is Nitish Rajput, who calls himself an ‘Entrepreneur, Business Head, and Digital Creator’. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On the video published in the post, the social media handles ID – ‘nitishrajpute’ can be seen. So, when we searched for that ID on Instagram, the profile of ‘Nitish Rajput’ was found. He is the man in the video. He posted the same video on his Instagram profile on 26 July 2020. He also posted the same video on his YouTube channel. He calls himself an ‘Entrepreneur, Business Head, and Digital Creator’. An article on him can be read on the ‘Hindustan Times’ website. The article mentions that his age is 28 years, so he cannot be an IPS Officer of 1977 batch. Also, it is not mentioned anywhere that he is an IPS officer.

To sum it up, the man speaking about the criminalization of politics in this video is not IPS Officer Shailja Kant Mishra. He is Nitish Rajput, an entrepreneur and digital creator.
