The Claim that a woman gave birth to a snake in India is a hoax

Several videos (here, here & here) are being shared on social media claiming that a woman has recently given birth to a snake in India. Social media users who are sharing these videos assert different locations for the incident, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and others. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Visuals of a Woman giving birth to a snake in India

Fact: Scientifically, it is impossible for humans to give birth to snakes, and there have been no reported cases of such occurrences anywhere in the world. Furthermore, the ultrasound scan image, which appears to show a snake inside a woman’s womb, has been manipulated. Additionally, the visuals of the doctors in the operating theatre are from Pakistan and do not depict any instance of a woman giving birth to a snake. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

Extensive research using relevant keywords on the internet has yielded no substantiated reports or verifiable evidence of a woman giving birth to a snake in India. Humans and snakes belong to different biological classifications with distinct reproductive systems. Humans are mammals, giving birth to live young, while snakes are reptiles that mostly lay eggs. The genetic makeup, anatomical structures, and reproductive processes of humans and snakes are fundamentally different. In addition to these biological reasons, there is also the fact that there is no evidence that any human woman has ever given birth to a snake/other species. All the cases that have been reported have been either hoaxes or cases of mistaken identity.

Regarding the visuals depicted in the viral videos, previously an image of an Ultrasound scan report allegedly showing a snake-like creature allegedly in a woman’s womb went viral. The claim associated with this image suggests that Dr. Shailendra Jain from Etah, Uttar Pradesh, refused to treat a pregnant woman upon discovering a snake in her womb. However, in an interview with Amar Ujala, Dr. Shailendra Jain clarified that no such case has ever been encountered, and he deemed the photo and accompanying story entirely fabricated and false.

Furthermore, it is worth noting that the visuals depicting doctors performing surgery are actually from a Pakistani hospital. The video was uploaded by an individual named Ehtisham in April 2023 on Tik Tok, and it does not show a woman giving birth to a snake, contrary to the claim being made. We also contacted both the uploader and the hospital to gather additional information regarding the nature of the surgery featured in the video. This article will be promptly updated accordingly, If and when the necessary information becomes available.

Similarly, claims of a snake being present inside a woman’s womb and being discovered through an X-ray have circulated extensively in the past worldwide, only to be revealed as hoaxes.

To sum it up, it is scientifically impossible for humans to give birth to snakes. Therefore, the rumours claiming that a woman in India has given birth to a snake are entirely false and can be classified as a hoax.
