Ratan Tata has not said that the year 2020 was all about being alive and not about giving a thought to profits and losses in businesses

A newspaper clip attributing a message to Ratan Tata (Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons and Chairman of Tata Trusts) is being shared on social media. The crux of the message is – ‘Ratan Tata has said that the year 2020 was all about being alive and not about giving a thought to profits and losses in one’s respective businesses’. But, FACTLY has found that the message was not given by Ratan Tata. On Twitter, Ratan Tata has clarified he has not said those lines and encouraged his followers to verify news sources in such cases. In his tweet, Tata has said that his picture alongside a quote does not guarantee that he said the quote. Earlier, when another message claiming Ratan Tata has spoken about the impact of coronavirus on the economy has gone viral, FACTLY has debunked the claim and written a fact-check article, which can be read here.
