Photos from a 2017 RJD rally misattributed to the recent ‘Jan Vishwaas Maha Rally’ at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan.

A set of two photos is doing its rounds on social media, with users claiming they were taken during the Jan Vishwaas Maha Rally held on 3 March 2024 at Gandhi Maidan, Patna. The images depict a large crowd filling up the rally ground. This article aims to fact-check this claim.

Claim: Viral photos show the Jan Vishwaas Maha Rally held at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on 3 March 2024.

Fact: The images viral on the internet are not from the recent Jan Vishwaas Maha Rally held in March 2024. They were taken during a rally held by RJD back in 2017. Therefore, the claim made in the post is False.

To determine the credibility of these viral photos, a reverse image search was conducted on each photo. The first photo matched a tweet (the first photo in this tweet) by the Times of India dated 27 August 2017. The caption of this tweet identified the crowd as attendees of an RJD rally titled “BJP Bhagao Desh Bachao.” (here and here) in Patna.

A reverse image search on the second photo revealed that it also originated from the same RJD event.

An unedited version of the viral image (which bears signs of crowd multiplication and cropping (check this)) was found in a news article (also here and here) covering this event.

While the Jan Vishwaas Maha Rally did take place on 3 March 2024 at Gandhi Maidan, Patna, and had a significant turnout (here, here and here), the viral photos are not from this event but from a past rally.

To sum up, the claim that the viral images depict the recent Jan Vishwaas Maha Rally from 2024 is incorrect. They are from 2017.
