A video is being shared on social media claiming that United states military academy band played Indian National anthem at West Point Officers Academy on the occasion of India’s 74th Independence day. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

The archived version of the post can be seen here.

Claim: The United States military academy band played the Indian National anthem on the occasion of India’s 74th Independence day.

Fact: As the post claims, U.S military academy band played the Indian National anthem in the video. But it was played during the ‘Yudh Abhyas 2019’, a joint military exercise conducted between the U.S and Indian army in 2019. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On reverse image search of screenshots in the video, we found similar visuals in a video posted by ‘ANI’ website. In the website, it is mentioned that the U.S Army band played the Indian National Anthem during ‘Yudh Abhyas 2019’. ‘Yudh Abhyas’ is a joint military exercise between the U.S and Indian army hosted alternatively by both countries. In September 2019, 15th edition of ‘Yudh Abhyas’ exercise was conducted at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Video in the post shows the U.S army band playing the Indian National Anthem in this event.‘The Print’ and ‘NDTV’ news channels also posted the same video mentioning it as an exercise related to the ‘Yudh Abhyas 2019’. It can be seen here and here.

Earlier, when the same video was shared as the preparation for Modi’s ‘Howdy, Modi!’ event at Houston, Factly has debunked the post and published an article. It can be seen here.

To sum it up, U.S Army band playing the Indian National Anthem during ‘Yudh Abhyas 2019’ is now falsely shared as the band played on the occasion of  India’s 74th Independence day.
