A video is being shared on social media claiming it as the visuals of two Muslim women thrashing their husband and his Hindu girlfriend in a gym. This post claims that the two burqa-clad women caught their husband red-handed having an affair with a Hindu girl in the gym and assaulted both in public. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Fact: This incident took place in October 2021 at Suja Fitness Center in the Kohefiza area in Bhopal. This video shows Urba Shahi, a housewife, assaulting her husband Talha Shahim and his alleged female friend in the gym. The burqa-clad woman who was supporting Urba Shahi was her sister Fiza. All the persons involved in this incident belong to the same community. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
On reverse image search of the screenshots in the video, a video with similar visuals was found in an article published by the ‘Dainik Bhaskar’ news website in October 2021. This article reported that the incident had taken place on 15 October 2021 at Suja Fitness Center in the Kohefiza area in Bhopal. According to the article, Urba Shahi, along with her sister Fiza, had visited Suja Fitness Center suspecting her husband Talha Shahim’s illegal affair with another girl. Seeing her husband’s intimate fun with a female friend in the gym, Urba Shahi had reportedly assaulted her husband and his alleged girlfriend with slippers.
Several media organizations have published this video with a similar description. They can be seen here and here. As per reports, both parties have filed a complaint in the Kohefiza police station. Speaking on this incident, the then Kohefiza police station in-charge Anil Bhajpayee said, “the wife had suspected her husband for a long time, that he was having an affair with some other woman. On the day of the incident, the wife followed her husband to the gym center. Going there, she beat up the husband and his girlfriend. Police are still probing the matter”. The name and religious identity of the assaulted woman was not disclosed by any news website on the internet.
The Kohefiza police officials have also clarified to ‘BOOM’ that both parties involved in this assault belong to the same community and there is no communal angle in the incident.
