A video is being shared on social media with a claim that it shows a protestor giving a warning to the authorities in the recent Agnipath protests. In the video, the protestor says – “It is just a trailer. The full film is yet to come” (translated), and in the next clip, the protestor can be seen carried away by the police. Let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video shows a protestor giving a warning to the authorities in the recent Agnipath protests.

Fact: The posted video is an old video from Tripura. It is not related to the recent Agnipath protests. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

When the screenshots of the video were run through Google Reverse Image Search, many similar videos were found in the search results. Some of them were posted back in August 2021. The posted video has two clips – first, where the protestor says – “It is just a trailer. The full film is yet to come”, and second, where the protestor can be seen carried away by the police. ‘TRIPURAINFOWAY TIWN’ has uploaded the longer version of the first clip on their YouTube channel in August 2021 with the following description – “Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath’s residence was gheraoed by Madhyamik candidates who could not pass in Board Exams. They have alleged scam and partiality with students.” The logo of ‘TRIPURAINFOWAY TIWN’ can be also seen on the posted video.

A video similar to the second clip in the posted video can be also found to be uploaded on the ‘TRIPURAINFOWAY TIWN’ YouTube channel in August 2021. The person in the video is Samrat Roy (President, NSUI Tripura). He has posted a live video on 3 August 2021 from the same place which can be seen here.

To sum it up, an old video from Tripura is being shared as visuals of a protestor giving a warning to the authorities in the recent Agnipath protests.
