A video is being shared on social media claiming it as visuals of Muslims offering Namaz on a busy street in India. The same video was sent to our WhatsApp Tipline (+91 92470 52470) number. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video of Muslims offering Namaz on the streets in India.

Fact: The video shared in the post shows an old incident that took place in Istanbul, Turkey. This prayer was held at the Tiryanki Hasan Pasha Street in Istanbul. This video has nothing to do with India. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On reverse image search of the screenshots in the video, we could not find any reliable information about this video of Muslims offering Namaz on a street. When we observe the video carefully, one could see a few billboards above the commercial establishments. The names of all these billboards are written in the Turkish language.

A billboard on one of the shops shows, “Yücel par – Renault & Dacia”. When we searched for the location of the street using these keywords, it is found that the ‘Yücel par – Renault & Dacia” is a vehicle parts shop located at the Tiryanki Hasan Pasha Street in Istanbul, Turkey. The Google Street view of the exact location can be seen here. So, it is confirmed that the video shared in the post was shot in Turkey’s Istanbul, not in India.

Earlier, when a similar video of a man offering Namaz on a busy street in Istanbul was shared as an incident in London, FACTLY published a fact-check article debunking that information.

To sum it up, an old video from Istanbul is being circulated as visuals of Muslims offering Namaz prayers on a busy street in India.
