A video is being shared on social media claiming it as visuals of AP Congress leaders scuffle during the recent Independence Day flag hoisting ceremony in Karimnagar. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video of AP Congress leaders hitting each other during the recent Independence Day flag hoisting ceremony in Karimnagar.

Fact: The video shows an old incident that took place during the 2014 Independence Day celebrations in Karimnagar. This scuffle took place between the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders in Karimnagar district, Telangana. YSRCP women leader Susheela, along with her husband was seen hitting the then YSRCP Karimnagar district President Bhaskar Reddy in the video. This video has nothing to do with the Congress leaders and Andhra Pradesh. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On reverse image search of the screenshots in the video, similar visuals were found in a video published by the ‘ETV Andhra Pradesh’ news channel on 15 August 2014. The description of the photo states, “Spat Between YCP Leaders @ Flag Hoisting In Karimnagar”.

When we searched for more details using these keywords, we found that the ‘NDTV’ news website had reported this incident through an article on 15 August 2014. This incident reportedly took place during the 2014 Independence Day flag hoisting ceremony in Karimnagar. According to the article, YSRCP women leader Susheela had hit the then YSRCP Karimnagar district President Bhaskar Reddy during the Independence Day flag hoisting ceremony in Karimnagar. This article reported that Susheela was angry with Bhaskar Reddy for not informing her about party events and denying her the post of the district women’s wing chief.

Reporting the complete details of this incident, several news websites published articles in 2014. They can be seen here and here. From all these pieces of evidence, it can be concluded that the video shared in the post is an old one and has nothing to do with the AP Congress leaders.
