No, the man hasn’t set his car ablaze for being issued a challan

A video of a car being burnt while a man and a woman held pistols is being shared on social media with a claim that a man set up his car ablaze and made his wife and children sit on the road giving them a pistol as his car was issued a challan of Rs 35,000. Let’s analyze the authenticity of that claim.

Fact: The man in the video is Shubham Choudhary and the woman is Anjula Sharma. They had set ablaze the car to gain media coverage to announce their marriage. The kids seen in the video are the children of Shubham Choudhary’s sister. So, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

The video in the Facebook post has the logo of ‘ABP Ganga’. So when searched on Youtube that news video was found and is known to be aired on September 25, 2019. In the news video, a reporter from the incident sight speaks over a call to the news anchor and tells that the incident has taken place in Mathura 15 minutes back and the actual details of it are yet to be known. So, no concrete details of the incident were known from that video. When searched on Google with keywords ‘man set ablaze car Mathura’, an article of ‘News18’ that was published about the incident was found in the search results. From the article, it is known that Mathura Police have arrested  Shubham Choudhary and Anjula Sharma in this incident and they have revealed that they have set ablaze the car to get media coverage and get married in the middle of the road. It was known from the article that the kids seen along with them were the children of Shubham Choudhary’s sister and Anjula Sharma

When the video has gone viral with false claim, Mathura Police clarified that the claim with which it has gone viral is baseless and false.
