A post with an image is being widely shared on Facebook with the claim that it shows a detention centre in Assam. Let’s analyze the authenticity of the claim in the post.

Claim: Image of a detention centre in Assam.

Fact: The image is that of Border Patrol station in McAllen, Texas (USA). So, the claim is FALSE.    

When the image in the post is subjected to reverse image search technique, many search results were obtained. From the search result of ‘Washington Post’, it was found that the image is that of Border Patrol station in McAllen, Texas (USA). In the article, the image had the following description- ‘An overcrowded, fenced area holds families at a Border Patrol station in McAllen, Tex., on June 10’.

To conclude, an image of ‘Border Patrol station in Texas’ is being shared as ‘Assam detention house’.
