Fake messages and websites now offer non-existent smartphone employment from the Government

1

A message is being shared on social media with a claim that the government is going to provide employment to people with smartphones, on the occasion of Navaratri as unemployment is rising in the country. It is being claimed that one can register on the given link and start earning 1000 to 2000 rupees by working two to three hours from home. Let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

The archived version of the post can be found here.

Claim: Government to provide employment to people with smartphones.

Fact: There has been no such announcement by the Central Government. Also, the given link redirects people to some private application. Similar messages are being shared on social media with other dubious website links. The ‘Press Information Bureau (PIB) has also clarified that the message is fake. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

When we searched if the Central Government has made any announcement regarding such employment, no information was found on the internet. Also, the given link redirects people to some private application. So, it can be confirmed that the message is fake.

We also found from the internet that many similar messages (occasion ‘Navaratri’ is replaced by ‘Gandhi Jayanthi’ in some messages) are being shared on social media with other dubious website links and private application links. Some of those links are – ‘https://www.pep.today/’ and ‘https://www.youtubegifts.in/’. If the government is providing employment, it does the registration through an official portal, not through blogs. Also, on filling up the details in the registration form given on those blogs, both the blogs redirect to a different page, where the user is asked to share the link with 10 other people to complete the registration. No government initiative or scheme asks people to share a link on WhatsApp to complete the registration. So, these are fraudulent websites cashing in by putting the image of the Prime Minister.

The ‘Press Information Bureau (PIB) has also clarified that the message is fake, and the Central Government has made no such announcement. FACTLY has also previously debunked many such messages offering free laptops, smartphones, and scholarships in the name of Government.

To sum it up, do not register yourself using such fraudulent links for employment from the government. If the government offers any such employment, the registration will be through official government portals.
