Claim: PM Modi is seen endorsing the Congress party in a viral video by saying, “If you want to secure your children’s future, vote for Congress.”
Fact: This is an edited video. The original video, found on PM Modi’s official YouTube channel, clearly shows him supporting the BJP and not the Congress. Hence, the claim made in the viral video is False.
To identify the authenticity of the viral video, we conducted a thorough search on the internet. The search led us to the original version of this video uploaded on PM Modi’s official YouTube channel (here and here). This clip is from a public meeting in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. In the video, PM Modi is heard saying, “If you want to ensure the well-being of your children, vote for BJP.” He further added, “If you want the Gandhi family to succeed, vote for Congress.”
Upon comparing the audio of the viral video with the original clip, it is clear that the former has been edited. The phrase “…vote for BJP” had been manipulated to say, “…vote for Congress”. The contrast in the statements between the original and the distorted video clearly points towards the manipulation, and one can listen to the actual sentence by Modi here.
To sum up, the video claiming PM Modi endorsed the Congress party is false. The original video on PM Modi’s official YouTube channel confirms that this audio is manipulated.
