A video is being shared on social media claiming it as the fumbled reaction of PM Narendra Modi when a person in a video conference raised the question about increasing fuel prices. This video shows Narendra Modi asking a person to sit after he raised the question on petrol prices. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

The archived version of the post can be seen here.

Claim: Video of Narendra Modi asking a person to sit down in a live video conference for raising the question about increased fuel prices.

Fact: The video shared in the post is an edited one. In the original video, the person interacting with Narendra Modi did not speak anything about the petrol prices. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On observing carefully, we could hear PM Narendra Modi addressing the person in the video with the name Haribhau. When we searched for this video interaction using these keywords, we found similar visuals in a YouTube video published by ‘ABP MAJHA’ news channel in 2018. In the video, the person speaking to Narendra Modi was reported as a beneficiary of PM Mudra Yojana scheme (PMMY). It is reported that PM Narendra Modi spoke to this Mudra scheme beneficiary Haribhau, in the Marathi language.

The complete video of this interaction of PM Modi with Mudra Yojana beneficiaries is shared on the ‘PMO India’ YouTube channel. The words ‘Namasthe sir’ and ‘Theek hey Saab’ in the original video were replaced with the words ‘Ram Ram’ and ‘Petrol Ke Bhav’ respectively. In the original video, Haribhau did not speak anything about petrol prices.

To sum it up, an edited video of PM Modi asking a Mudra Yojana Beneficiary to sit in live video conference is shared with a false narrative.
