Fact: The clip of Subramanian Swamy’s speech featured in the viral post is from an old video. This speech has been available on YouTube since April 2012. In the address, he doubts the EVMs’ authenticity. , Hence the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.
Using relevant keywords, we searched on the internet for the speech of Subramanian Swami on EVMs. This led us to a video from 2012 titled ‘Dr Subramanian Swamy exposes fault in Electronic Voting Machine.’ It is available on YouTube channel, Dr Subramanian Swamy, which has around 116,000 subscribers. In the speech, he says that India uses Japanese EVMs but ironically Japan conducts its elections via ballot paper.
