Update (15 July 2024):  Another video of an aeroplane taking off from an aircraft carrier is being shared as a real video. However, the original video was uploaded by the user Capt. Broz on his Facebook page, where he stated that it is a simulation video and not a real incident.

A video (here and here) of a Boeing-747 DHL cargo aircraft taking off from an aircraft carrier is doing the rounds on social media. We fact-check this claim through this article.

Claim: Viral video shows DHL’s Boeing-747 freighter, take off from an Aircraft carrier.

Fact: This is not a real video. It shows the gameplay of a video game. This video was uploaded to Facebook by a gaming video creator named ‘BROZ,’ who shares gaming video clips there. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

To check the veracity of the viral claim, we performed a keyword search online to determine the origins of the viral video. This search led us to a longer version of the viral video uploaded on Facebook by a ‘Gaming video creator’ named BROZ. This was uploaded on 7 June 2024 with a caption that reads, ‘Very Dangerous Takeoff C-747 DHL from Aircraft Carrier.’ The video video is a clipped version of this seven minute long video.

This page ‘BROZ’ contains numerous gameplay videos (here) of flight simulation-based video games. Although they have not mentioned which video game the gameplay seen here belongs to, the videos posted on their Facebook page resemble gameplays of other flight simulators like Microsoft Flight Simulator and X Plane 11, uploaded by other creators (here, here, and here)

To sum up, the viral video of a DHL Freighter taking off from an Aircraft Carrier is not a real video but a video game clip.
