The dispute between Bhojpuri superstar Pawan Singh and his wife Jyoti Singh escalated on 05 October 2025, when Jyoti unexpectedly arrived at Pawan’s residence in Ara, claiming her right to live with him. The visit led to a tense situation with police and media present, as Jyoti alleged Pawan was avoiding her, while his family opposed her entry. This incident adds to their ongoing marital conflict, which has involved public allegations, police complaints, and court proceedings (here, here, and here).
Following this, a video of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has gone viral on social media (here, here, and here), claiming he is supporting Jyoti Singh and criticising Pawan Singh. In the video, Akshay Kumar is heard saying, “To be very direct, to speak from the heart, today I feel ashamed of being a human being. I was leaving the airport with my daughter when I saw some news on TV. I don’t know how you felt, but my blood boiled. I am a father of a daughter, and even if I weren’t, a society that cannot respect its women has no right to call itself human.” Let’s verify the claim made in the post in this article.

Claim: The video shows Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar supporting Jyoti Singh and criticising Pawan Singh amid their marital dispute.
Fact: The viral video does not show Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar supporting Jyoti Singh or criticising Pawan Singh amid their marital dispute. The clip dates back to 05 January 2017, where he was seen addressing the molestation of women during New Year’s celebrations in Bengaluru. The viral clip is trimmed and falsely linked to the ongoing Pawan Singh and Jyoti Singh marital conflict. Multiple media reports from 2017 confirm the video’s context, and Akshay Kumar’s statements focus on women’s safety and empowerment, and unrelated to Pawan Singh or Jyoti Singh. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to the extended version uploaded on Akshay Kumar’s official X handle on 05 January 2017. The post caption read: “The Bangalore incident makes me feel we are evolving backwards, from humans to animals, rather beasts, because even animals are better! Truly shameful.” In the extended video, Akshay Kumar can be heard saying, “To be very direct, to speak from the heart, today I feel ashamed of being a human being. I returned from Cape Town after a lovely little vacation with my family and wished everyone a Happy New Year. As I was leaving the airport, holding my daughter, I saw some news on TV. I saw people dancing wildly on the streets during New Year’s celebrations in Bengaluru.” He continued, “By God, I don’t know how you felt, but my blood boiled. I’m a father of a daughter, and even if I weren’t, a society that cannot respect its women has no right to call itself human. What’s most shameful is that some people harass a girl on the street. It’s not about her clothes or being out at night—it’s about your mindset. God forbid what happened in Bengaluru happens to your sister or daughter.” Akshay then emphasises the safety and empowerment of daughters.
The full video clearly shows that the viral clip has been made by editing out opening lines about Bengaluru and his Cape Town holiday, and is falsely linked to the ongoing dispute between Pawan Singh and his wife.
We also found several media reports (here, here, and here) from January 2017 confirming that Akshay Kumar’s reaction video was in response to the Bengaluru molestation incident during New Year’s celebrations. At the time, multiple women were reportedly harassed by a mob near Brigade Road and MG Road. The then Karnataka Home Minister, G. Parameshwara, drew criticism for his remark that “such incidents do happen.” Following this, Akshay Kumar and several other film stars condemned the incident and called for stronger action (here, here). The viral video of Akshay criticising the perpetrators is from 2017, and not related to the ongoing dispute between Pawan Singh and his wife.
Factly previously debunked the same video when it went viral, claiming that actor Akshay Kumar was denouncing the 2023 incident of mistreatment of women in Manipur.
To sum up, a 2017 video of Akshay Kumar condemning the mass molestation of women in Bangalore is shared as his comments on Pawan Singh-Jyoti Singh’s marital dispute.
