A video (here, here, and here) showing the torso of a woman lying in a field has been widely circulated on social media, with claims that a Hindu woman was sexually assaulted and murdered in the Khulna district, Bangladesh. Let’s verify the accuracy of this claim.

Claim: Visuals of a Hindu woman who was sexually assaulted and murdered in Khulna district of Bangladesh.
Fact: The video is not from Bangladesh. It shows a murder incident that took place in February 2025 under Rajepur Police Station in Motihari District (East Champaran), Bihar. Rajepur police informed Factly that the identities of both the deceased and the accused are still unknown. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.
A reverse image search of the viral video led us to earlier uploads (here, here, and here) of the same video, which mentioned that the incident took place in Motihari district, Bihar.

Building on this, a further search led us to a Facebook video (archive) dated 28 February 2025, showing the full version of the same incident. In this video, a motorcycle with a Bihar (BR) registration number is visible, suggesting that the video could be from Bihar, India.

Additional research uncovered local news reports from Public News and Prabhat Khabar published on 26 February 2025, which described the discovery of a headless body of a middle-aged woman in a maize field in Galimpur village, under the Rajepur police station in Motihari district (East Champaran). The report stated that the woman’s head was found in a nearby wheat field, and she was wearing a blue saree and blouse. The identity of the deceased was not immediately known, and the Rajepur police were investigating the incident.

Further investigation revealed a copy of the FIR (First Information Report) registered at the Rajepur Police Station regarding the incident. According to the FIR, the headless body of an unidentified woman was found in a maize field near Galimpur village. The report mentions that the woman was wearing a blue saree and blouse and that she was supposedly strangled with a sharp weapon.

To verify the authenticity of the viral video, we contacted the Rajepur police. Mukesh Kumar, the SHO of Rajepur Police Station, confirmed to FACTLY that the viral video shows the body of a woman found in a cornfield in Galimpur village in Bihar in February 2025. He further stated that the identity of the deceased is still unknown and the investigation is ongoing. Motihari Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat also confirmed this information via WhatsApp.
To sum it up, the viral video shows the body of a woman found in Bihar’s Motihari district, not Bangladesh.
